Production study
The second stage of work
measurement is the production study that is a very powerful and effective
technique of work measurement. It is easy technique to determine the fact about
effective or non-effective time that how it is effective or non-effective as
well as the causes of their activities. It shows the real picture of work that
can be segregated the time feature of every element and their
measurement of
necessity or unnecessary which can be deducted / reduced easily.
Importance of Production study
1.
Determine the
fact that how an operator perform his her task.
2.
Determine the
time of each movement, motion & element of task
3.
Segregate
effective & ineffective time from total measuring time.
4.
Determine the
causes of ineffective time
5.
Eliminate
ineffective time
6.
Find out lost
time and to select priority causes to eliminate it.
7.
Study the
procedure for better implementation
8.
Balance the
task or worker for achieving optimum
production
9.
Find out the
individual capacity and performance.
Equipment for production study
1.
A stop watch
2.
A study board
3.

4.
Pencil, eraser
Production study procedure
The production study is
continued for a specific period of time. It may be continued for 2 hours or
more than 2 hours to acquire the crucial accuracy. Some times it can be done
for less than 2 hours if the situation demand it urgently. In study period, the
stopwatch will be non-stopped and every motion and action of selected topic
will be recorded sequence and production study sheet wise. The normal
procedures are as follows-
1.
Select the task /
operator to be studied
2.
Get idea about
the selected assignment
3.
Start switch on
the stopwatch when the assignment is started.
4.
Recording the
time by lapping the stopwatch
5.
Switch off the
stopwatch when the period as well as the cycle of assignment is over
6.
Calculate the
required result and submit it to the respective concern for next step.
